HOUSTON (Reuters) - Chevron Corp, the second-largest oil producer in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, said on Wednesday that all production at its four platforms was shut down and its Mississippi refinery was operating after Hurricane Isaac came ashore Tuesday evening.
Chevron did not specify whether its 330,000-barrel-per-day refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi, was operating at reduced rates.
However, the U.S. Department of Energy said on Wednesday that the refinery was running at reduced rates.
The company operates four oil and gas platforms in the Gulf. They are Tahiti, which can produce up to 125,000 bpd of oil and 70 million cubic feet per day of natural gas; Blind Faith, 65,000 bpd of oil and 55 mmcf per day of gas; Genesis, 55,000 bpd of oil and 72 mmcf per day of gas; and Petronius, 40,000 bpd of oil and 35 mmcf per day of gas.

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? The Mars rover Curiosity is hitting the road.
It headed east Tuesday, driving 52 feet toward a spot where it will use its robotic arm for the first time to drill into bedrock. It'll take weeks for the six-wheel NASA rover to reach the site called Glenelg about a quarter mile away.
"It's nice to see some Martian soil on our wheels," mission manager Arthur Amador said in a statement Wednesday.
The drive was the third and longest one yet since the car-size rover touched down in an ancient crater Aug. 5 to study whether the Martian environment could have been favorable for life. The early drives have been deliberately short, allowing Curiosity to identify any hazards on the road and so that engineers can gain practice driving on the Martian terrain.
Scientists have said they eventually expect the rover to travel about the length of a football field a day.
Curiosity spent Wednesday at its new locale, snapping pictures of a distant mountain that is its ultimate destination. Intriguing layers of rocks have been spotted at the base and most of its two-year mission will be spent examining the lower slopes.
Since landing, Curiosity has been busy checking out its instruments and it's not done yet. Next week, it will make a longer stop along the way to Glenelg to continue its health checkups.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - Fewer than 7 percent of Lonmin's 28,000-strong South African workforce reported for duty on Thursday, as the platinum producer held talks with warring unions aimed at cooling tensions and bringing people back to work.
The world's third-largest platinum producer has had its mining operations shut for almost three weeks because of a violent turf war between the established National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and militant Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) that has killed 44 people this month.
That total includes 34 striking workers killed at once in a hail of police bullets, stiffening the resolve of surviving comrades to hold out until their demands are met.
"We have a 6.6 percent average attendance across all shafts this morning," Lonmin said in a statement on Thursday.
The talks to end the impasse in the platinum mining city of Rustenburg northwest of Johannesburg resumed on Thursday after dragging into the night on Wednesday.
Gideon du Plessis, deputy secretary general of trade union Solidarity, said discussions are to secure "a return to work agreement - with the aim of getting workers back to work on Monday after most funerals have been concluded."
He said the grievances raised by the striking workers would then be dealt with and finally, a "peace accord" would be reached.
Solidarity represents skilled workers and its members have not been on strike but all unions are taking place in the talks.
The 3,000 strikers who have brought things to a standstill are mostly rock driller operators demanding a monthly wage of 12,500 rand ($1,500), which would be a hike of over 25 percent of what the company says it currently pays, excluding bonuses.
In Australia, South Africa's mines minister Susan Shabangu said on the sidelines of a mining conference in Perth that the violence was undermining investor confidence in Africa's largest economy, which sits on 80 percent of known platinum reserves.
"It is a cause for concern. The tragedy does impact on any potential investments. Any investor would like to invest in a stable environment, we've got to recognize that," she said.
Lonmin accounts for 12 percent of the global output of platinum, used in car catalytic converters and jewelry.
Lonmin has said it may issue new shares to shore up a balance sheet hit by lost output and revenue, and the prospect of further losses as the entire platinum sector struggles with soaring power and labor costs and poor demand.

DETROIT (AP) ? An 1877 Steinway grand piano used by many Motown greats has been restored, thanks to a little help from its friend, Paul McCartney.
The former Beatle told Motown Museum officials following a concert last summer in Detroit that he wanted to assist with the restoration of the piano after learning the historic instrument could no longer be played.
Robin Terry, chair of the museum's Board of Trustees, announced late Wednesday that the restoration had been completed.
Terry says the nine-foot piano will make its debut at a charitable event Sept. 18 at Steinway Hall in New York City, where McCartney and Motown founder Berry Gordy will play it for the first time following its restoration.
The piano then will go back on display at the Motown Museum's famed Studio A.

We've already heard rumors of a forthcoming 'superphone' from LG, and indeed the Korean OEM has recently started their own teaser campaign to carry it a little further. The so-called Optimus G is set to be a Snapdragon S4 Pro toting, 2GB of RAM housing behemoth, and the folks at AndroidMX claim to have got their hands on it.
The LG E973 as described by its label, is a 4.7-inch device with a 1280x720 IPS display, the Adreno 320 GPU, Android 4.0.4 and yes, that 2GB of RAM and the mighty quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro. Having had the chance to play with it, the androidmx guys simply say that it "really flies." We can only imagine. It is worth noting that what we see here apparently isn't final hardware or software, so there is still a possibility LG will change it up some before release -- Jelly Bean, maybe?
The speculation is that we will see the Optimus G unveiled officially at next weeks IFA show in Berlin, Germany. We're not so sure, however. While LG will be present at the show, they have previously informed us that they will not be showcasing any new smartphones in Berlin. Given the prototype nature of what we see here, we're likely to have to wait a little longer.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Floridians, tourists and thousands of visitors for the Republican National Convention were warned Saturday to prepare for Tropical Storm Isaac, which is expected to strengthen to a hurricane by the time it reaches the Florida Keys.
While there were few signs of the approaching storm in Tampa, convention officials called off most events until after the storm passes. They planned to convene briefly as planned on Monday, then delay most of the schedule until Tuesday afternoon.
Streets were already shut down around the Tampa Bay Times Forum, where former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to accept his party's presidential nomination Thursday night. Law enforcement milled about downtown, and some protests already were under way. One group protesting homelessness and the housing crisis "took over" a foreclosed home by cleaning the yard and planned to help a homeless couple move in.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott, a Republican, declared a state of emergency and canceled his plans to attend convention events on Sunday and Monday.
A hurricane warning had been issued for the Florida Keys, and officials warned tourists to leave. Forecast models show Isaac likely won't hit Tampa head-on, but it could lash the city with rain and strong winds just as the convention ramps up.
"I told some of my Democratic friends, 'We are the storm, baby, we are the thunder,'" said Steve Linder, whose business is planning all events for the Michigan delegation. Linder added, smiling, "and it ain't gonna stop until November."
Dianne Joachim of New Richmond, Wis., was in town for her first convention and vowed not to let Isaac ruin it.
"I just figure God's got this," she said as she arrived at her downtown hotel.
Scott said during a media briefing that delegates were being told how to stay safe during a storm, and officials were ready for storm surge, bridge closures and other problems that could arise during the convention. He also said he was in close communication with local, state and federal agencies, as well as convention officials.
"We are a hospitality state. We know how to take care of people and we want to ensure their safety," the governor said.
Isaac was blamed for at least three deaths after dousing flood-prone Haiti and was expected to scrape eastern Cuba on Saturday. It was forecast to hit the Keys late Sunday or early Monday, and it then could bring stormy conditions to Florida's west coast before moving to the Panhandle.
Isaac was expected to pass over the Keys as a hurricane late Sunday or early Monday. A steady stream of cars moved north along the Overseas Highway on Saturday, but officials said there were no major problems as some evacuated. At spots of higher ground along the highway, the only road connecting the Keys, dozens of people parked their cars to escape flooding.
At The Turtle Hospital in Marathon, workers were moving recovering turtles from outdoor tanks inside, and hospital founder Richie Moretti said warnings were being taken seriously. He noted Hurricane Wilma in 2005 was initially expected to hit as a Category 1 storm, too.
"It took out the motel, the hospital, the docks, and all the boats. So, I don't take anything for granted. If there's a storm coming, I don't care what number they give it. We're going to batten down and be ready," he said.
Volunteers carried in supplies at shelters throughout the Keys. On Duval Street, the famed tourist strip in Key West, many shops were boarded up. Bands of light rain moved through and passersby crowded under umbrellas and wore ponchos and slickers.
"The weather sucks, but on Tuesday it'll be nice," said an optimistic Kelly Calhoun, a 30-year-old speech therapist at the start of a weeklong vacation to Key West with family. "We got all the essentials: booze and food."
Yet the storm was days away from the Florida Panhandle. It was sunny and breezy on the beach Saturday in Pensacola, with people out strolling and playing in the sand. Condo associations told people to move furniture inside, but full-scale preparations hadn't yet begun. Waves weren't yet big enough for surfers.
When the storm hits, strong winds will be "enough to knock you over" and produce severe thunderstorms, National Hurricane Center spokesman Dennis Feltgen said.
Storm surge and tornadoes also are possible when Isaac hits, and winds could topple power lines and lead to lengthy power outages, Feltgen said. The Panhandle already has had a wet summer, so potential flooding was especially possible there.___

If you?re building a network marketing or direct sales business online, you?ve probably researched and tried quite a few different home business recruiting strategies.
One popular tool for online home business recruiting and network marketing in general is blogging. A WordPress blog (on your own domain, not the free type) can help you build credibility and? trust, while attracting potential prospects for your network marketing business and any other products or services you might offer.
Having your own blog as your online marketing home base is a proven strategy that works. This is where your visitors and prospects will come to learn more about you and what you do. The thing is, though, how do you get these visitors to your blog in the first place?
When blogging first started becoming popular a few years ago, it was pretty easy to get found online just by doing this. Do some keyword research, write blog posts optimized for your keywords, and then with a little SEO work you could get ranked well in Google and get a good bit of qualified traffic over time.
Blogging and ranking for carefully chosen keywords still works, but with constant changes in how Google and other search engines interpret and rank web content, it isn?t as simple and predictable as it used to be. Now more than ever, it?s critical to find as many other ways as possible to get found online and grab traffic for your blog. Search engine traffic is still an important part of an overall home business marketing strategy, but diversification and getting leads from more diverse sources is the key today.
What if you have the time and are willing to invest in implementing various home business recruiting strategies, but don?t have a big budget for advertising? As expensive as effective online advertising is these days, finding other effective home business recruiting and marketing methods is critical.
Here is the question of the day:
Do you want to find and connect with high quality prospects for your home business, without having to spend a ton of money on advertising? Consider LinkedIn ? this is a huge resource for finding potential prospects that is often overlooked.
From my observations, most of the focus on home business recruiting in social networking communities centers on Facebook, Twitter, and to some extent Google Plus. I don?t see a lot of attention on LinkedIn (I?ve sent connection requests to other network marketers on LinkedIn that took weeks to be acknowledged, where a friend request to the same person on Facebook was answered in a day or two).
I believe that many people think of LinkedIn as a stuffy, boring place where people just go to look for jobs and that?s about it. LinkedIn IS different from Facebook in many ways, especially in the sense of the content there.
Facebook is where you look up old friends, post pictures of your kids, share interesting photos and videos, and in general just enjoy discussing life and what?s going on in your world. Facebook can be a HUGE tool for networking and home business recruiting. LinkedIn, though, has more of a focus on networking for business and professional development. This is where the BIG advantage is for network marketers and other home business professionals!
Some things to consider:
If you don?t already have an account on LinkedIn, consider getting one. The rules for successful networking and home business recruiting on LinkedIn are similar to those for any social networking community.
Here are some resources that will help you get started on LinkedIn ? now is the time, just take time to learn more about the community before you jump in. This is very important. It?s different than any other, but the connections and potential you have here are incredible.
What is LinkedIn? (from the LinkedIn Learning Center) ? this is where you can learn some of the basics directly from the LinkedIn documentation. You?ll notice that the emphasis is on employment and careers, but there are LOTS of entrepreneurs and opportunity seekers actively using LinkedIn.
LinkedIn Recruiting Secrets ? this is a paid course created by Doug Firebaugh, and is where I picked up a lot of strategies for home business recruiting and marketing that I haven?t seen anywhere else. The price that Doug charges for this is far less than its actual value. Highly recommended.

BISHKEK (Reuters) - Kyrgyzstan will attempt to form a new government within the next 15 days after its ruling coalition collapsed this week under the strain of a deepening economic crisis and corruption allegations against the prime minister.
President Almazbek Atambayev will try to unite the squabbling politicians after dissolving the government on Friday, two days after the withdrawal of two parties cost the coalition its majority in parliament.
Analysts said the next prime minister could be drawn from outside the main groups vying for influence in Central Asia's only parliamentary democracy, a new model of government backed by the United States but viewed with suspicion by former imperial master Russia.
Both countries have military air bases in the country, which lies along a major drug trafficking route from Afghanistan and has suffered periodic bouts of ethnic violence.
"We need a new elite capable of coping with this force majeure; an elite that can end this stalemate," political analyst Mars Sariyev said.
The collapse of the government risks a prolonged period of political turmoil in former Soviet Kyrgyzstan. Deputies have warned the country risks defaulting on its foreign debt which, at $2.8 billion, is more than half of gross domestic product.
The economy in Kyrgyzstan, a mainly Muslim country of 5.5 million, relies heavily on production from the Kumtor gold mine, the flagship asset of Canadian miner Centerra Gold, and remittances from hundreds of thousands of migrant workers.
POSSIBLE NAMES
Falling output at Kumtor contributed to a 5 percentage-point contraction in GDP in the first seven months of this year.
Two of the four parties withdrew in protest at the shrinking economy and alleged corruption, leaving Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov's Respublika party and the Social-Democratic Party of Kyrgyzstan without the majority to form a government.
Deputies from the departing Ata-Meken and Ar-Namys factions also called on Babanov to resign. Babanov's spokesman has denied all allegations of impropriety.
By law, Atambayev has three days to appoint a party to form a new coalition, which in turn has 15 days to complete its task. Babanov and his cabinet will continue in an acting capacity pending the formation of a new government.
Analysts identified Deputy Prime Minister Joomart Otorbayev, Zhantoro Satybaldiyev, head of the presidential administration, and Elmir Ibraimov, head of the state agency for development and investment, as possible candidates for the premiership.
"These are people who are inside politics, but outside the main political groups," Sariyev said.
The only party outside the previous coalition, Ata Zhurt, enjoys strong support among Kyrgyz nationalists, particularly in the poorer, more agrarian south. It won more seats than any other party in the last parliamentary election in October 2010.
But political analyst Kadyr Malikov said none of Babanov's rival parties had presented a candidate suitable to replace him.
"These parties are without a heavyweight candidate for prime minister and they don't want to risk setting someone up to be a whipping boy," he said.

Microsoft today unveiled a new corporate logo, its first large-scale logo redesign since 1987. Everyone with a working set of eyeballs can weigh in on whether they like it or not ? and many people have with quite amusing results. But it?s always good to get insight from an expert, someone who focuses on this kind of thing full-time.
So I was really pleased to have the opportunity to talk with Armin Vit, the co-founder of Austin, Texas-based graphic design firm UnderConsideration and the editor of Brand New, a popular blog which obsessively monitors and critiques corporate logo designs and redesigns (if it?s not in your RSS reader, it ought to be ? it?s one of my favorites.)
Armin gave us a buzz via Skype to give us the scoop on what he thinks of the new Microsoft logo ? and he had some very interesting insights.
Watch the video embedded above to hear about why the Microsoft logo is ?meh? (and how that?s still a good thing), how this compares to the latest branding out of Apple, how much this particular graphic design job could have cost the tech giant (hint: Vit says that whatever price you think would be reasonable you should probably ?add a zero? to), what company?s logo holds the crown as his favorite of all time, and much more.
N.B.: Vit was calling in from a hotel room, so the connection wasn?t all that one might hope for. Apologies for any audio blips, but I think it still turned out quite well, considering.

This past weekend was a busy one for those of us who travelled to Denver, CO for the annual American Sociological Association meeting. As usual, the conference was replete with interesting and insightful research projects. But this year?s theme, ?Real Utopias: Emancipatory Projects, Institutional Designs, Possible Futures,? inspired conversations far more philosophical and theoretical than social scientists might have expected. I had the pleasure of attending one such panel??A World Beyond Gender,? with Barbara Jane Risman, Judith Lorber, and Michael Kimmel as presider (Jessica Holden Sherwood contributed to the paper but wasn?t in attendance). Beginning from a simple but radical premise?that ?only a world beyond gender will be a just world? (p4)?the authors attempted to envision how we might achieve an equal world, where gender no longer structures individual experiences, interactions, or social institutions.
A lofty and laudable goal, and one which even the authors admitted is a long way off. The authors noted a number of trends, however, that seem to indicate that change is possible. Changes in the socialization of girls that promote their athleticism, leadership, participation in science and math are heartening, though they have not been accompanied by similar changes in the socialization of boys; that is, while girls may be encouraged to enter traditionally ?masculine? spheres, boys are not taught to value what is typically viewed as ?feminine.? Rising challenges to the norm of heterosexual marriage, both from those who choose to remain single rather than enter into unequal relationships and from the LGBT community demanding legal access to the institution of marriage, suggest a dissatisfaction with the current gender regime. The authors also pointed to genderqueer and trans movements, which defy binary conceptions of sex/gender. There is room for change if only we?d seize it.
They even provided some strategies. We must resist pressures to socialize our children into gender, and refuse to conform to the roles into which we have been socialized. We must create and enforce gender-neutral institutional policies, and place equal value on both economic and care work. We need to stop expecting proper gender performances, and encourage, rather than stigmatize, non-normative ways of being. We must reconceive the meaning of motherhood. Easy, right? Not at all, but the most worthwhile endeavors are often the most difficult.
Michael Kimmel?s response to the paper was equally provocative. Drawing on his own participation in the men?s anti-violence movement, he asked if we need to do away with gender entirely. Ideas about gender can be mobilized effectively for social change. One of the best ways he found to get men to take a stand against IPV and sexual violence was to draw on seemingly ?masculine? values of honor and valor. The paper authors had suggested that men who don?t participate equally in caregiving ought to be shamed for their moral failure, but Kimmel argued that he has never found men (or people, really) to respond positively to shaming. Instead, perhaps, we should turn to positive, not negative, reinforcement, and mobilize some aspects of gender for good. (I should note that Kimmel was trying to incite debate and clearly shares the authors? goal of a more just world.)
All of this got me thinking?how do we balance short-term activist strategies with long-term emancipatory projects? If one of our most effective tools for combatting men?s violence against women is to draw men in through appeals to virtuous manhood, is it possible to stop violence and work toward a degendered society? Another example. The current reality is that women still make less money, have fewer educational and occupational resources, and have less mobility than men. But policies that encourage companies to hire women do so on the basis of gender, thus reinforcing, to some extent, our current gender system. So can we raise women?s educational/occupational status and still advance toward our ultimate goal? Can we improve this lifetime without limiting our possible futures?

PHILADELPHIA (AP) ? Penn State's disgraced former president is trying to convince the public he had no idea that Jerry Sandusky was a child molester ? and that he most certainly did not protect one.
With a network TV appearance, a magazine interview and a news conference held by his lawyers, Graham Spanier portrayed himself Wednesday as the innocent victim of a witch hunt and a rush to judgment by former FBI Director Louis Freeh, whose university-commissioned report on the sex-abuse scandal prompted the NCAA to hit Penn State with a $60 million fine and other sanctions.
Freeh, hired by Penn State trustees to conduct an internal probe of the scandal, released a report last month that accused Spanier, Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno and other top university officials of concealing a 2001 abuse allegation against Sandusky to protect the university from bad publicity.
Spanier told The New Yorker magazine he was stunned by Freeh's allegation.
"There's no logic to it," Spanier said. "Why on earth would anybody cover up for a known child predator? Adverse publicity? For heaven's sake! Every day I had to make some decision that got adverse publicity."
In an interview that aired on "Nightline" late Wednesday night Spanier told ABC-TV, "Never in my time as president of Penn State did I ever ? ever once ? receive a report from anyone that suggested that Jerry Sandusky was involved in any child abuse, in any sexual abuse, in any criminal act."
Spanier told ABC that he knew only that Sandusky had been seen engaging in "horseplay" in a campus shower with a boy in 2001 and he took that to mean "throwing water around, snapping towels."
"I wish in hindsight that I would have known more about Jerry Sandusky and his terrible, terrible hidden past so that I could have intervened because it would have been my instinct to do so," he said.
In a portion of the interview aired Thursday on "Good Morning America," Spanier said he asked if there was more to the 2001 report than "horseplay" and was told no.
Sandusky was convicted in June of sexually abusing 10 boys. He awaits sentencing on 45 counts.
Spanier's lawyer, Timothy Lewis, excoriated Freeh as a "biased investigator" who relied on speculation and innuendo to support a preordained conclusion.
At a news conference in Philadelphia, Lewis ? like Freeh a former federal judge and prosecutor ? complained that Freeh never interviewed key witnesses, ignored inconvenient facts and manipulated the truth.
He called the report "a flat-out distortion of facts so infused with bias and innuendo that it is, quite simply, unworthy of the confidence that has been placed in it."
The Freeh group said Wednesday that it stands by its work.
Crisis communications expert Jason Maloni said Spanier and his lawyers may be going on the offensive now because he hopes to resurrect his academic career, and wants "to create some sort of reasonable doubt with a potential jury." Spanier has not been charged, but the criminal probe remains open.
The Freeh report, Maloni said, is a formidable hurdle for Spanier, who led Penn State for 16 years until his ouster several days after Sandusky was charged with serial child abuse.
"He's not going to have much luck deflating the Freeh report," said Maloni, senior vice president of Levick, a strategic communications firm in Washington, D.C. "Louis Freeh's got a lot of credibility and he has a strong reputation in this field as a straight shooter. This might be too little too late for Graham Spanier."
Freeh's investigation uncovered documents that suggest Spanier had deeper knowledge of the Sandusky complaints, including an email in which the president appeared to agree with athletic director Tim Curley's decision to keep the 2001 assault from child-welfare authorities, and instead work directly with Sandusky and Sandusky's charity for at-risk youths.
"The only downside for us is if the message isn't 'heard' and acted upon, and we then become vulnerable for not having reported it," said Spanier's email, dated Feb. 27, 2001. "The approach you outline is humane and a reasonable way to proceed."
Spanier told ABC-TV that he doesn't remember the memo "but it sounds like me."
The word "vulnerable," Spanier said, "may not have been the best choice of the term" but was "a reaction to the possibility that we didn't want this to happen and if he didn't accept that and understand it, we would be disturbed by it and perhaps need to take further action. But the message we got back was that he heard the message and was agreeable."
Spanier's lawyers said Freeh took the email out of context.
The report, Lewis complained, assumes former graduate assistant Mike McQueary told Paterno in 2001 that he saw something sexual in a locker room shower, and that Paterno echoed that to Curley and vice president Gary Schultz. Freeh likewise assumes that they in turn told Spanier the same thing.
"Curley and Schultz have denied that they ever told Dr. Spanier anything of the sort," Lewis said. "'Horseplay' was referred to over and over again, but never with any sexual connotation or suggestion of abuse. But Judge Freeh paid no attention to that."
Schultz and Curley are charged with lying to a grand jury and failure to report suspected child abuse. They have pleaded not guilty. Their lawyers released a statement Wednesday agreeing with Lewis's critique of the Freeh report.
Spanier's lawyers said they don't know whether their client will be charged, but "we don't think there's a scintilla of evidence to support an indictment," attorney John E. Riley said.

Wood Trim
This is a type of trim option that you can find at any home improvement store. Pieces are available in a variety of lengths that can typically be cut to any required size. The trim needs to be painted before you install it around the window. Classic wood trim can be used on the interior of your home or installed on a window on the outside of your home.
Vinyl Trim
The use of vinyl trim is an option to match the existing vinyl siding on your home. Vinyl is also known as a PVC product that is used as an alternative to wood trim. This product is weather resistant, durable, and easy to maintain. Vinyl window trim does not need to be painted. Periodic washing of the trim is all that is required.
Aluminum Trim
Aluminum is a type of trim that is used on the inside or outside of your home. Metal is a product that is weather resistant and also easy for you to maintain. The material is more difficult to install that vinyl or wood trim. A miter saw with a metal cutting blade will be needed to cut the material. Special tools will need to be used to bend the aluminum into the required shape. Nails are used to secure the metal and caulk is used to fill any gaps.
Finger-Jointed Wood
This trim option is an alternative to the use of solid wood. This wood can also be used on the interior of your home or on the exterior. The trim is made from poor pieces of high-quality lumber. Pieces are cut into trim sections that are ready to install around a window. The best quality of finger-jointed wood thin that you can find is a all heartwood with a vertical grain.
Medium-Density Fiberboard
MDF is a composite material that is similar to wood. You can easily cut pieces for window trim to paint any color. The material will first need to be primed before paint can be applied. This is a great option as it is cheaper to purchase than typical wood trim. Nails or glue can be used to secure the trim around the windows on the interior walls of your home.
